Double Page Spread Construction

Double Page Spread Construction

The first thing which was layered on top of the background image were the mini photographs, that were cropped using the magnetic lasso tool in Photoshop. I didn't feel as if larger images were needed as the main image that linked with the text was already the background.

A Headline / Masthead was the next layer, to make this stand out more I expanded my colour scheme and added red. I also placed black boxes behind the writing so it was more eye catching. Underneath is the main strap line, with information regarding the Masthead. The texts used are '28 Days Later' and 'Anton'.

The next to be layered were the articles. This made the magazine start to look realistic. To highlight the articles subheadings I placed a yellow box behind black writing, with contrasted really well. The fonts used throughout the articles are 'Anton' and 'Tobago Poster'. The quote within the article has bigger font and is in the eye catching red colour. I have stuck to common conventions by using three columns throughout the page.

The spread was missing something to attract the audience further. To do this the right hand column contains information on how to win tickets to see 'Copper Federation' live in London and more. I needed a balance between the different colours used throughout the page, therefore using red for key information about the contest did this.

The final page numbers were added to the spread to finish the product. The numbers correspond with the numbers on my contents page.
